If you haven’t had a chance to see this video, it is a nice quick look at the experience shared by the 13 students and two faculty members who traveled with the Forward in Health team to Haiti this past March. Another trip is already in the works for next year.

Thanks to Shauna B. and the pottery team for recreating the wonderful sculpture that graces the Rotenberg Arts Studios. The first set had been destroyed in a storm, but the new sculpture is just as beautiful.

A fitting sunset for the 2011-2012 year at The Winchendon School. The new victory bell is ringing in the distance, students are prepping for one final exam in the morning, and by this time tomorrow many teary goodbyes will have been shared.

The Class of 2012 returned to Newport, former home of The Hatch-Winchendon School, for a great day of fun.  Mother Nature shown brightly on us and all had a great time.  The countdown to graduation continues!
Thanks to Elliot Harvey for another great photo.

Oh what a week it was!!

Every once in a while we have to talk about the weather, and this past week Mother Nature gave us spring tidings that were better than most could have hoped.

Here Jacques Delorme and Dan Chretien focused on curriculum while considering force, velocity, angles and momentum.  On any day, this is a good moment for the two very hard working teachers, but it has been a long time if ever that Winchendon’s golf course has been available for this kind of conference in mid-March!

It all wasn’t fun and games.  The Building and Grounds team continues to work hard on all sorts of campus improvements including the science lab upgrades.  The Haiti team returned Tuesday evening after an exceptional trip.  There is lots going on while most are hopefully enjoying a great break.

And, while it has cooled down to more seasonable temperatures this weekend, those of is in town this past week won’t soon forget how Mother Nature has been so good to us!

What a feast! Luis (‘12), Mariana(‘13) and special Canadian envoy Randi(‘12) hosted a great feast in Mexico City on Thursday. My thanks to moms Lucy Sulaiman and Maggie Haddad for a very memorable visit to Mexico. I am looking forward to seeing Lucy in Winchendon for Luis’ graduation in May. Lucy has had three brothers, a nephew and two sons come to Winchendon.

Going, going, gone #2 - Eight of the Haiti bound 13 (students) gather at Logan very early Tuesday with Matt Quinn, Lindsey Penek and the Forward In Health team at the start of their service journey. The Winchendon team will be in Haiti for a week helping out in orphanages and clinics among other good deeds. This is Winchendon’s second trip with our friends at FIH, a terrific group led by Paula and John Mulqueen. I have often wondered what a hero is truly like, and I have a feeling that Paula and John serve as good representatives.

More to come. Check out Marc Frushell’s Facebook page and blog for updates.

Gone, Gone, Gone #1 - By Monday afternoon the old science labs had been gutted to make way for a March makeover. The labs will receive new finishes, furnishings and technology over spring break. Thanks to Mike Gormley and crew for getting a quick start on this and to our Boards and supporters for making the continued campus improvements possible.
